2021 3rd Grade Rookie Tackle

Irish Youth Football 3rd Graders participate in USA Football’s Rookie Tackle Program

=========================================================

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

=========================================================

Players are welcome to join Irish Youth Football during the years that they are in 3rd grade based on the 2021-2022 school year.

=========================================================

LEVEL OF COMMITMENT

=========================================================

A higher level of time commitment (up to 4 events per week) is required for Irish Youth Football. This is due to the need to make sure our players are able to play the game using proper technique, understand the complexity of the offense and defense, and the high level of teamwork that goes into forming a football team.

=========================================================

COST

=========================================================

$120

Includes cost for game jersey, practice jersey, mouth guard(s), shoulder pads, helmet. Practice jerseys and mouth guard(s) are kept by the player at the end of the season.  Helmets, Game jerseys and shoulder pads must be returned at the end of the season. For insurance reasons we cannot allow individuals to purchase and use their own helmets.

=========================================================

LEAGUE ORGANIZATION

=========================================================

3rd Grade Rookie Tackle

  • 6-8 teams, parent coached on half-size fields

===========================================================

PARENT VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT

===========================================================

The Rosemount Football Boosters donate significant funds to our program to allow us to provide the equipment we are able to and keep our registration costs low. In return we provide support for their bingo program and other efforts throughout the year that allow them to make the donations to our program.

Volunteering is required for parents with older players, but volunteering is optional for parents of 3rd players.  Opportunities to do this will be labeled "Youth Football" and posted throughout the year on the Rosemount Football website at http://www.rosemountfootball.com/dib_sessions.  You will need to create a Sport Ngin account if you do not already have one.  Parents that coach or serve on the Irish Youth Football Board are exempt from the volunteer requirement.

=========================================================

REQUIRED EVENTS: PARENT MEETING, EQUIPMENT HANDOUT, INTRODUCTION TO FOOTBALL, TIME TRIALS, AND EVALUATIONS

=========================================================

If a player is unable to attend required events they will not be placed on a team until they are evaluated by the Program Director. Please contact us at football@rosemount-aaa.org with your name, player’s name and grade level, and we will connect you to the right Program Director to schedule an alternate evaluation.

COACHING 3RD GRADE ROOKIE TACKLE

=========================================================

As with most RAAA programs, volunteer coaches are an important part of our program. Recruiting of coaches that will be part of our program for years to come starts with being part of the introduction that happens in 3rd grade. Here is what we look for:

  • Completion of Background Check, USA Football Certification and any additional training as required by RAAA
  • Availability for four events (practice or games) a week, games historically played Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings
  • A desire to have fun with kids
  • Dedication to ensuring the safety of kids
  • An immense amount of patience
  • A commitment to equal opportunity to play and playing time for all players
  • A desire to learn the basics of football
  • Previous experience coaching is not required
  • Previous experience in football or coaching football is not needed
  • Previous experience in coaching or in football very welcome
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with other coaches and the program director to ensure a great experience for all and improve the program for the future
