2020 6th-8th Grade SSYFL Football

 

Rosemount is a member of the South Suburban Youth Football League (SSYFL) for 6th – 8th grade players. Communities participating in the SSYFL include Apple Valley, Bloomington, Burnsville, Eagan, Eastview, Farmington, Lakeville North, Lakeville South, Shakopee, and Rosemount. 

 

Being a part of SSYFL has many benefits for our community and our players. Team sizes are manageable to continue player development and with 10 communities participating we don’t anticipate playing the same teams more than once outside of playoffs.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Players are welcome to join Rosemount Football as part of the SSYFL during the years that they are in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. A player’s grade is based on the 2020-2021 school year.

LEVEL OF COMMITMENT

===============================================================================

A higher level of time commitment (4-5 events per week) is required for SSYFL. This is due to the level of play, the complexity of the offense and defense, and the high level of teamwork that goes into forming a football team at a higher level of competition.

COST

$50

Includes cost for game jersey, practice jersey, mouth guard(s), shoulder pads, helmet. Mouth guard(s) are kept by the player at the end of the season.  Helmets, Game jerseys, practice jerseys and shoulder pads must be returned at the end of the season. For insurance reasons we cannot allow individuals to purchase and use their own helmets.

 

Fees for this season are reduced for all players as part of a trial year.  This is made possible by continued support from our Irish Football Booster Club.  We will be evaluating the impact of this trial at the end of the season and make recommendations for future seasons.  You can find more information about the Boosters on their website: https://www.rosemountfootball.com/boosters

 

Parents of 6th-8th grade players are required to volunteer at one event during the season.   DIBS are a part of our travel football program, and begin ahead of the actual start of the season.  DIBS sessions begin in June and go through December and are all Bingo shifts at Celt’s.  Shifts are currently live online; sign up early to make sure you get your preferred time slot. https://www.rosemountfootball.com/dib_sessions/show/14505

Please note that if you do not sign up to volunteer before the season starts, a volunteer responsibility will be assigned to you.  If you are unable to fulfill the shift assigned, it will be your responsibility to find someone to cover it.

REQUIRED EVENTS: PARENT MEETING, EQUIPMENT HANDOUT, TIME TRIALS, MINI-CAMP AND EVALUATIONS

If a player is unable to attend required events they will not be placed on a team until they are evaluated by the Program Director. Please contact us at football@rosemount-aaa.org with your name, player’s name and grade level, and we will connect you to the right Program Director to schedule an alternate evaluation.

  • All players will be given a jersey to wear for evaluations.
  • Navy football pants will be required for all players; ordering details will be sent out prior to season start.
