2019 Track Details

The goal of the RAAA Track program is to create an enjoyable, memorable experience for boys and girls providing instructional guidance in the fundamentals of Track.

Participants must be 5 years of age by August 31, 2019.  Mutual friend requests will be considered, but are not guaranteed.

The 2019 Season runs from 4/7/2019 to 5/17/2019.

PreK/K/1st grade and 2nd/3rd grade meets are tentatively scheduled for Saturdays. Meet times are to be determined by the start of the season. Due to track availability and/or  weather, track meets MAY be scheduled on weeknight evenings or Sunday.

4th/5th/6th grade meets are tentatively scheduled for Friday evenings, with the possibility of occasionally moving to a Saturday or other week night due to track availability and/or weather.

Key Dates

This year, we are excited to offer clinics for the various age groups at the Rosemount Irish Dome. This ensures that our younger age groups will have a chance to go over fundamentals at least once before the start of the season. Our 4th/5th/6th grade teams will have 2 clinics at the dome, again, providing an opportunity to learn basic techniques for field events.

The pre-K/K/1st/2nd/3rd grade teams will have their clinic on Sunday, April 7th in the evening. Specifc times for each team will be sent once the team rosters are set. The 4th/5th/6th grade teams will have their clinics on Wednesday, April 10th and Wednesday, April 17th in the evening. Specific times for the clinics will be shared once the rosters are set.

Coaching Opportunities

Each team needs two (2) coaches. We are asking each team to hold one practice per week, either on a Monday or Wednesday evening. Practices are held weather permitting, and range from 45 minutes to 1 hour in duration, depending on the age group. This year, we will be sharing some practice ideas with the different age group coaches at the coaches meeting. The coaches meeting will be held in the evening on Sunday, April 7th, at the Rosemount Irish Dome.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

If you are not certain that you are able to commit to a coaching position, please consider volunteering at the track meets. We always need volunteers for recording results for the field events, order of finish and help with ribbons at the meets for the pre-K/K/1st/2nd/3rd grade meets.

Equipment

None required.  1/8" spikes allowed for 4th-6th graders only.
